Inner Awareness Training & Consultancy

We are Kim Breur and Larissa Kroone, co-founders of an awareness team dedicated to creating safe, inclusive spaces within the nightlife industry. Our journey began with hands-on experience in various renowned events and clubs, where we developed and led multiple awareness teams, each uniquely designed to fit the needs of individual events, focused on enhancing safety, empathy, and connection.
Larissa’s work in awareness started at De Reünie in Amsterdam, an event known for its Y2K fashion and queer-centered focus. Shortly after, she was invited to form an awareness team for Disturbia, a vibrant community of Spanish expats in Amsterdam. Working initially with Mats Hofman—one of Larissa and Kim’s closest friends—she led the first Disturbia awareness team. The following week, Kim joined Larissa to lead the team for Frenzy, a collective of well-known producers and DJs from Almere. Since then, Kim has been Larissa’s consistent co-supervisor, with Mats occasionally joining as a team member.
In addition to his work with us, Mats, a fellow Event Management student, interned at ID&T, where he designed a sensory-friendly room for Awakenings. This space featured sensory elements like soft cushions and calming decor to create a tranquil environment. Mats executed much of this on a production level, ensuring the space was welcoming and accessible. Together, as close friends and collaborators, we continue to work on improving awareness practices across club events and festivals.
Our collaborations have expanded to include events such as Disturbia, Frenzy, Vault Sessions, and Undisclosed, hosted at clubs like Radion in Amsterdam, Lo-Fi, Hal 25 in Alkmaar, and ISO. Through our feedback, Radion implemented a Club Care stand, a centralized place for awareness teams across all events to provide care and support for guests.
As our roles expanded, we developed structured evaluation and reflection processes. Documenting each event, we provided clubs with valuable insights, enabling continuous growth for both the teams and venues. Our work isn’t about achieving perfection, but about cultivating deep awareness in each moment, allowing for ongoing learning and self-discovery.
In addition to her work in awareness, Kim’s background in interior design has proven invaluable in creating sensory-friendly spaces tailored to the needs of diverse audiences. As Larissa pursued her Event Management studies, she gradually transitioned the leadership responsibilities to Kim, who continued managing the team before we both relocated to Belgium.

At Tomorrowland, Larissa applied change management skills within the Dreamville department, creating tools to improve communication and site-productional planning. By listening deeply and empathizing with team needs, she used awareness training principles to enhance the department’s atmosphere.
Larissa also worked on social safety initiatives, consulting on the festival’s implementation plan as required by Belgian regulations, and collaborated with the risk manager to design an implementation strategy and equip sensory-friendly spaces. She advised the press officer on positive messaging for signage and banners, ensuring supportive, clear communication around the event perimeter. She also consulted with an external First Aid team to coordinate operations for a 40-person team managing safety 24/7 on festival and camping grounds.
Our journey also led us to Guatemala, where we studied traditional cacao ceremonies with local shamans. This sacred practice, focused on gratitude, grounded intention, and love for Mother Earth, has become an integral part of our training. Since returning, we have led several cacao ceremonies, including a women’s ceremony with a reflection and talking circle, as well as ceremonies with friends, building meaningful experience in this area.

Our personal motivation for this work comes from our own journeys. Both of us have experienced situations where we felt unsafe in nightlife spaces, and we recognize how deeply impactful a truly supportive environment can be. Previously, we both found ourselves in a people-pleasing mindset, but we’ve learned the power of setting boundaries. By modeling healthy boundaries, we not only create safety but also show others that it’s possible to do the same. We know that many people haven’t been taught these skills, often missing this guidance from a young age. Our goal is to be the example our younger selves needed, embodying a presence that fosters self-respect, self-love, and emotional security.
We believe in creating a safe space where people can freely express their emotions and release energy through dance, not as a means of escape, but as a form of healing. By embracing our own growth and self-love, we aim to help others let go of shame and guilt, and instead feel grounded and at ease in their bodies.
Together, we have developed innovative approaches and a commitment to continuous learning. Our vision is to create a foundation so strong that awareness teams become self-sustaining, leaving behind a legacy of safe, conscious, and connected nightlife spaces that empower every team and venue we support.
